Have you ever had that feeling that something isn’t quite right, that no matter what you do, things just don’t seem to work out the way you planned or that everything in your life feels like its working against you?
Experiencing connection isn’t only limited to interpersonal connections. It also extends to experiencing connectivity and unicity with life itself.
This week to kick-off this special series on inter-connections, I explore the principles of universal connectivity with Pierre Lafleur, Reiki master, intuitive and spiritual guide. I sat down with him for an hour talking about how he experiences connectivity on a daily basis. During our afternoon exchange, one metaphor kept on resurfacing: Dance and ballet. This ballet\dance imagery inspires this blogpost on connectivity and flow.
Connection is like a dance for me, you can’t dance alone. Pierre Lafleur
To experience omnipotent correspondence means to connect with the collective, to engage in connections on a holistic level, to harmoniously dance to the melody that the universal orchestra is playing for you. Some call it being in the flow, others effortless mindfulness. I believe that when you experience ease in all areas of your life, it is simply because you have a deep connection with it; on a pure level unobstructed by the agenda of your own ego. You are then dancing an effortless waltz with life and encounter overall fluidity.
You know that feeling you have when you are in the “Zone”, when you live through that sense of well-being, of oneness with the universe… thats connectivity! It is just like a well choreographed dance, where both dancer and music seem to effortlessly be in osmosis, to a point where, from the outside looking in, it becomes difficult to tell if it's the dancer dancing to the sound of the music or the orchestra playing the soundtrack to the dance it is witnessing. When you become so intertwined with the flow of life you magically become both dancer and orchestra.
The rhythmless dancer
A few months ago my life was going in the wrong direction, no matter how hard I tried nothing was working out for me. Every project I worked on was canceled, every decision I took led nowhere, every opportunity for growth seemed out of reach. My relationships with my body and spirit were toxic and I was miserable overall… It felt like everything in my life was screaming: TURN LEFT, but I stubbornly continued to go straight, ignoring the bright neon signs that life was asking me to follow!
When success seems out of reach no matter how hard you try, when you feel like every project you participate in is doomed, chances are you are not on the right life path! Pierre reminds me that: connection is like a dance, you can't dance alone! The universal orchestra was playing a Paso Doble and I was insisting on dancing ballet! No wonder I couldn’t experience harmony or flow in my life!
I eventually decided to follow the flashing neon lights and to dance a different dance. Today, for the first time, I finally feel like I am exactly were I need to be. Every challenge comes with an equal opportunity, every decision is taken effortlessly and most of all every action I take is in tune with my authentic self.
Consider life as both your invisible dance partner and the song you are dancing too. It is that energy that lifts you up, supports you and gives meaning to every dance step you take. Every movement becomes infused with grace, elegance and meaning once you are in osmosis and in partnership with it. Dancing isn't about who leads and who follows, it's about the beauty and grace that is born out of fluidity.
When we experience connection on a universal level, we begin to open to an awareness that feels natural and loving. This awareness of universal connection reveals qualities of compassionate actions, clarity and well-being. It is a way of shifting out of the chattering mind and into the source of our universal consciousness, which is by definition already aware and awake. This is where we can feel engaged and experience a deep and meaningful connection with life itself.
Recognize your own dance
I first reconnected with my life after discovering Reiki. The process of energy balancing and re-alignment helped me gained the perspective I desperately needed. I realized that I had been living a life that wasn't in tune with my soul's mission, and that the overall unease I felt was symptomatic of that disconnection. Radical mindfulness and honesty was essential in recognizing my own life path and re-connecting with my authentic self. For me, finding energy healing was the gateway to this re-union between my authentic self and life as a preeminent entity. Just as dancing requires chemistry and understanding between partners, experiencing connection and flow in your life asks that you create a deep and honest bond with life’s energy.
It’s important you get to know yourself on a deep energetic level, to recognize when things feel right and when they feel out of alignment. Take time to know yourself, meditate, practice mindfulness, go on a retreat, receive Reiki. It is once you feel connected with yourself that you can recognize the beat of your own drums.
The situation we find ourselves in with COVID-19 asks us to turn inwards, to re-connect with our authentic selves and with our environment. It calls upon us to exert awareness of our universal connection, to practice compassionate actions, and to have a radically honest perspective of our responsibilities. Let's use this opportunity to reconnect with ourselves and with our environment.
Join me next week as we continue exploring messages of connectivity.
